Leveling the Playing Field for Independent Grocers

Independent brick-and-mortar grocery stores needed a way to strengthen their presence against large ecommerce retailers like Amazon and Walmart. As these platforms entered local communities, independent grocers were losing loyal customers and market share, leaving them vulnerable in an increasingly digital marketplace.

Challenge

We designed and led the creation of a white-label ecommerce platform for independent grocers, including a consumer shopping app and a fulfillment system. The experience gave local stores the customization, convenience, and brand ownership customers expect — without sacrificing the in-store feel.

The fulfillment app’s entire experience provides employees an efficient way to pick and fulfill orders. We devised an experience strategy tailored to meeting various fulfillment use cases to ensure the ease of efficiency and adaptability in managing employee workflow.

Giving customers a convenient way to shop on-the-go.

The grocery app strategy was to provide a fluent user experience from their current online store through the app. By extending the grocer’s brand presence via the white-labeled app, shoppers can effortlessly access their user accounts, manage and add items to their lists, and checkout with ease.
